The animals presented for exhibition must show no symptoms or evidence of an infectious or contagious disease.
(B) All cattle imported into Ohio for exhibition must:
Be accompanied by a certificate of veterinary inspection issued within thirty days preceding the opening date of the exhibition and be identified with official individual identification;
Originate from a tuberculosis-accredited free herd, an accredited free state or zone, or a modified accredited advanced state or zone;
If originate from a modified accredited state or zone must comply with Rule 901:1-17-03 of the Administrative Code;
If originate from an accreditation preparatory or a non-accredited state or zone are prohibited from exhibition;
If from a brucellosis class A state or area/zone must be negative to an official brucellosis test within thirty days of the opening date of the exhibition unless: they are under six months of age, steers, or official vaccinates under twenty months of age (dairy) or twenty four months of age (beef); and (
If from a brucellosis class B or C state or area/zone must meet all requirements for pre entry testing as specified in 9 C.F.R. 78.9 and obtain an Ohio permit prior to movement.
(C) Cattle from a brucellosis certified free herd or class free state or area/zone are not required to be brucellosis tested.

*(Note) No open class dairy for 2022. Milking parlor subject to open based on number of entries. If the parlor is not open, participants may use a portable milker throughout the week or trailer in the day of show by 8:00 a.m. (Milk cows only, heifers must remain all week) Decision will be made by the committee chairman prior to the start of the fair, participants will be notified.
Show and Barn Etiquette
Each exhibitor must furnish his own feed, bedding and feed containers. NO BEDDING will be provided
All pens, stalls, alleyways and exhibits must be in a presentable condition during the fair.
Superintendents have the right to withhold premium money from Open Class and Junior Fair exhibitors who show dirty livestock or do not maintain clean pen or stalls.
Superintendents will be in charge of all stall and pen assignments for Open Class & Junior Fair exhibits.
All Junior Fair Exhibitors are responsible for the care of market livestock until release. Animals will be released due to sickness only under orders by a veterinarian or a superintendent.
Any Exhibitor requiring the services of the Fair Veterinarian: A parent or guardian must be present at the exhibitor’s pen to authorize the treatment. All veterinary services must be paid for at the time of service. The Fair Board is not responsible for the payments to the veterinary services rendered to exhibitors.

Showmanship Guidelines
Must show your own project animal which shows in Junior fair. See Rule 47, General Regulations.
New this year: all exhibitors must register for showmanship on your Junior Fair entry online. Exhibitors have the option to scratch ringside.
It is suggested that exhibitors wear the traditional white shirt and white pants when showing in the dairy show.
Senior winner eligible to participate in the Showman of Showmen contest Sunday, September 11, at 3 p.m.

To enter an animal as dairy, visit entries.hardincountyfair.org and follow the on-screen prompts. All junior fair entries close on July 31 at 5 p.m. Use the following additional information to register your animal:
Division: 091 Acceptable breeds- Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Dexter, Dutch Belted, Guernsey, Holstein, Jersey, Milking Shorthorn. All junior fair diary will be shown by class with breeds combined in each class.
Class 1 – Junior Heifer Calf – Born after February 28, 2022 and over 4 months.
Class 2 – Intermediate Calf – Born December 1, 2021 to February 28, 2022.
Class 3 – Senior Heifer Calf – Sept. 1 to November 30, 2021.
Class 4 – Summer Yearling Heifer – Born June 1 to August 31, 2021.
Class 5 – Junior Yearling Heifer – Born March 1 to May 31, 2021.
Class 6 – Intermediate Senior Yearling – Born December 1, 2020 to February 28, 2021.
Class 7 – Senior Yearling Heifer – Born September 1, 2020 to November 30, 2020 (not in milk)
Junior Champion and Reserve Junior Champion Female

Market Classes will be broken up evenly by the Dairy Beef Feeder Committee Chair based on weight at weigh-in. Classes will then be posted in the dairy feeder barn on the morning of Wednesday, September 7th and online at hardincountyfair.org.
