Fair competing in ‘Stock The Trailer’ food drive

The Hardin County Junior Fair Board is excited to share that we will be competing in the Farm Credit Mid-America and Rural 1st contest Fight Hunger, Stock the Trailer. The contest helps county fairs raise food donations for local food banks across Ohio by creating friendly competition between county fairs. Across the state of Ohio the Fight the Hunger, Stock the Trailer contest has coordinated nearly 200,000 pounds of donations to rural food banks. 

This is our first year with the opportunity to participate and we want to make an impact,” said Claire Ketcham, Junior Fair Board President. “We know that when the Hardin County Community is faced with a challenge, they step up to the plate and come out on top. We are confident this will be no different.”

Farm Credit Mid-America and Rural 1st will be awarding $10,000 in prizes based on the total pounds of food donated to county fairs in our area. All prize money awarded is intended to support youth fair activities! 

Junior Fair Board members will be collecting monetary donations until September 7, 2023 and using all proceeds to purchase non-perishable items to be added to the trailer during the week of the fair. Members will be creating donation boxes to collect non-perishable items leading up to fair week for local businesses. Donations will be accepted throughout the fair.
