With 27 memberships paid for 2026, 23 Hardin County Agricultural Society members and 4 guests present, the meeting was brought to order by President Jake McFadden.
The minutes of last year’s annual meeting were reviewed.
Charlie McCullough and Justin Beale moved to keep the season ticket price the same as last year and the membership price the same at $2.00. The price of the season ticket will be $30 until Thursday, September 3rd and after that date, they will be $35. The motion passed unanimously.
Craig Decker and Andrew Scharf moved to keep the membership ticket price at $2. The motion passed unanimously. It was noted membership tickets can be purchased in the fair office, at the fairground’s, starting Monday, August 3rd, 2026 and runs until Wednesday, October 14th, 2026. A season ticket needs to be purchased first and then the $2 membership ticket can be purchased. The membership ticket gives the member rights to vote in the annual fair board director election and gives the person rights to run for a fair board director position.
Charlie McCullough and Andrew Scharf moved to have the Director’s pay set at $1. The motion passed unanimously.
The annual conflict of interest document for 2025/26 was given to every director to sign.
Steve Harpster and Jack McBride moved to change Article IV, section 2 of the Hardin County Ag. Society Constitution to read “the county extension agents shall be ex-officio members of the Board of Directors, but have no voting rights in regular board meetings.” The motion passed unanimously.
Jack McBride and Dan Beale moved to change Article IV, section 3 of the Hardin County Ag. Society Constitution to read “Honorary members do not have voting rights in regular board meetings.” The motion passed unanimously.
Christa Rarey and Craig Decker moved to change Article V, section 2 of the Hardin County Ag. Society Constitution to read “Members of the Society shall be permitted to vote for all candidates on the ballot and the casting of votes for directors by proxies or absentee ballot is not permitted.” The motion passed unanimously.
Judi Cronley and Abe Decker moved to change Article V, section 3 of the Hardin County Ag. Society Constitution to delete the section that states “resident of the township they would represent if elected (with the exception of a Township having less than 20 Society members, at which time the minimum number of signatures required is 50% of the total number of Society members who are residents of the township they would represent if elected”. Therefore all petitions will need 10 or more members of the Society’s signatures. This section is now in line with the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture’s Rules and Regulation book. This motion was passed unanimously.
Christa Rareyand Dan Beale moved to change Article V, section 8 of the Hardin County Ag. Society Constitution to read “the term of the Board of Directors will commence no later than the 15th of November.” Motion passed unanimously.
All of these changes to the Hardin County Ag. Society Constitution were made to make them in line with the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture’s Rules and Regulation Book.
Charlie McCullough and Justin Beale moved to make next year’s annual meeting, with the annual election to be held on the same day from 2-6pm, on Wednesday, November 4th at 6:30pm in the Community Building (unless the building is being rented and then it would be in the Arts/Crafts Building).
